LTIO responds to news of reduction of COVID-19 self-isolation period to seven days

Following the news that the Government is reducing the COVID-19 self-isolation period to seven days from 10 days for people in England who get a negative result on a lateral flow test two days in a row, a spokesperson for the LTIO said:

The Laboratory and Testing Industry Organisation supports this decision by UKHSA in line with our own Scientific Advisory Board. Omicron appears to have a very short incubation period for most people and also a short infectious period, especially for vaccinated and boosted individuals. As long as people keep to the rules and keep testing, this is a logical, pragmatic solution.
